FILLING UP OUR LUNGS (ACOUSTIC) V1 It passed and moves in the shadow of the sun Stood barely there begun And you, you were filling up your lungs With who you knew we would become CH Oooh ahhh V2 Moved in the shadow of the sun Stood barely yet begun Moved in the shadow of the sun Stood barely yet begun Soon we were filling up our lungs With who we knew we would become CH Oooh ahhh
3.
DRIFT (ACOUSTIC) V1 I will take you to the sea tonight Where we always knew there’d be a tide Gathered in the blue green light Yeah I will take you to the sea tonight CH Where we could drift away, away Yeah we could drift away, away V2 I will take you far above the leaves Swaying in the dark sound asleep Reaching through the sparse hush of speech I will take you far above the leaves Yes I will take you far above the leaves CH Where we could drift away, away Yeah we could drift away, away B Oooooh V3 I will take you now into my arms Because we have spoken doubt we knew the harm But I will try somehow to prove us wrong And I will take you now into my arms Yes I will take you now into my arms CH Where we could drift away, away Yeah we could drift away, away B Oooooh
4.
FORM WITHOUT SHAPE (ACOUSTIC) V1 I deliberate the ink upon the page Has dried like permanent mistakes And these are difficult to change I will then proceed slow and cautiously So not to compromise retreat It is difficult to speak V2 I might speculate a shuffling of the frames Despite what I anticipate Always difficult to face I would be misled the corridors ahead Are drafty passageways of breath Which are difficult to thread CH To know is different than being known To know is different than being known in the end V3 I delineate the form without a shape So suddenly I hesitate It’s a difficult escape I must yet concede you overshadow me So strange the thought is comforting You are difficult to flee CH To know is different than being known To know is different than being known in the end B Instrumental CH To know is different than being known To know is different than being known in the end (2x)
5.
BROKEN EYES (ACOUSTIC) V1 The moon swoops down like a sickle unspoiled To harvest the twilight and sever the soil Darkness drips like sulphur and oil To lie in the ground with the tears of its toil V2 Dusk has dwindled in the ration of hours Watch it flee and call it a coward Grim procession of grey that scours The turning hemisphere as it devours CH But don’t look away Don’t turn aside Fix your gaze With broken eyes V3 Stars march forth like so many men Phosphorescent now and again Shadows casting shadows when Slumber calls out like a friend V4 Your face tells of a distance unspanned Crossing the hollows in my hand Silhouettes in a single strand Pilgrims leaving their faraway lands CH But don’t look away Don’t turn aside Fix your gaze With broken eyes And don’t look away And don’t turn aside Don’t look away And don’t turn aside Fix your gaze With broken eyes
6.
CONTINENTS WERE MADE TO SINK (ACOUSTIC) V1 Your sentiment swarmed my heart like sleep, like sleep So tentative I held your voice to breath, to breathe A liniment floating hushed and sweet, so sweet My hesitance you understood to mean, to mean CH I'm right here now I feel the bleeding You might as well let me grieve You're right here now I won't be leaving You fight so well I can't retreat V2 Your diligence calmed my heart, unease at ease Irrelevance of all my fears relieved, relieved Like sediment they fell away piece by piece And continents you said were made to sink, to sink CH And I'm right here now I don't feel the bleeding You might as well stay with me You're right here now I won't be leaving You fight so well I can't retreat B Ooh oh CH And I'm right here now I don't feel the bleeding You might as well stay with me You're right here now I won't be leaving You fight so well I can't retreat

THE MOMENT (ACOUSTIC) V1 Sometimes a nevermind is The limelight where the power lines bend And other times that otherwise end Well sometimes when V2 And who am I to wonder what it meant to decide the candlelight's glint Tonight as the underside spins Well who am I when CH Once in awhile the moment requires So everyone says A bitter denial and shoving aside Of all the pretense We seldom decide to acknowledge the quiet And it might as well pass Because once in awhile the moment requires all of this V3 Somehow we figured out when To cry out and tumble down dead Anyhow its a roundabout end Well somehow when CH Once in awhile the moment requires So everyone says A bitter denial and shoving aside Of all the pretense We seldom decide to acknowledge the quiet And it might as well pass 'Cause once in awhile the moment requires all of this

SHARP IS THE STRAIN (ACOUSTIC) V1 I shook hands with my thoughts today We agreed to go our separate ways Set aside all the differences Mine were yellow, theirs were grey V2 I don't know where the balance lies Today i wish that it would open its eyes Glance around at the indifferences Yawn and turn upon a sleepy sigh CH Sharp is the strain so am I to blame For changing the subject and forgetting names Shove them away as I hesitate Steadily spilling all that still remains V3 I suspect that there is more debris Splintered pieces left inside of me Thinking through what the difference is Between extracting the sting and remedy CH Sharp is the strain so am I to blame For changing the subject and forgetting names Shove them away as I hesitate Steadily spilling all that still remains B Ohh Ohh (2x) CH Sharp is the strain so am I to blame For changing the subject and forgetting names Shove them away as I hesitate Steadily spilling all that still remains (2x)

ALL ELSE FADES (ACOUSTIC) V1 When all else withers away Bloodlines remain However the strangers parade All else fades All else fades V2 The fact is that fiction contains Sometimes a frame That otherwise is explained The fact is named The fact is named CH I will not delay So whom have you to blame, to blame For night shall relinquish the day, the day V3 In a shudder everything changed And one side escaped Well it seems like we might be the same When all else fades   ‘Cause all else fades CH I will not delay So whom have you to blame, to blame For night shall relinquish the day, the day (2x)

about

I have been tinkering. I called this new album Deconstructionism because I have been experimenting with the implied permanence and unchangeability of the things we create. I have been fascinated lately with the idea of alterations and alternate versions of what has been created - I want to see the different ways that a song can be expressed. This album is the first collection of my deconstructed songs - some are stripped down to bare acoustics, some are new arrangements with added piano and cello, some are instrumental.

I have been working on making a lot of electronic music and remixes lately under my different projects. This genre uses sampling and cutting and reconfiguring elements in a more kaleidoscopic process of creating. I think this process has made me imagine my original acoustic songs differently - something akin to a minimal acoustic remix.
